To trusted members of the Ombudsman Commission

I’m contacting the Ombudsman Commission regarding CheckUser (CU) tool misuse and improper handling of private information. I’ve contacted enwiki ArbCom on 30 June, 2019, and on 2 July to remove the private information from the public archives, and I’ve been in contact with ArbCom for 2+ weeks now, regarding a previous debated block, yet there was no acknowledgement of these emails, or any action taken.

Private information is still publicly visible. The need to remove these associations - where I could - seriously disrupted my work. Please act within a reasonable time-frame to remove it, related matters are not so urgent.

1st evidence of abusive CU blocking:

The declaration of “Main account: Aron Manning” has been replaced by “This account has been confirmed by a CheckUser as a sock puppet of Aron Manning”. The only 2 contributions are on the user and talk page, no abuse ever happened.

2nd evidence:

The other alt account - that I wish to keep private outside of these discussions - was CU blocked (comment by NinjaRobotPirate) based on a properly added signature (the user name, even the timestamp is exactly what it should be) - 3 months ago -, that was missed by SineBot.
I was logged in with the alt account (probably in another browser). There was no abuse, and I never intended to cross paths in any way. I routinely add forgotten signatures similarly for any comment, where it is missing: 1, 2, 3.
“Note that alternative accounts are not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of the policies (for example, to double-vote or to increase the apparent support for any given position).” (m:CheckUser_policy)

3rd evidence:

I haven’t made edits for weeks: the main account is blocked, and I haven’t logged in the alt accounts for months. There was no reason for a CU check. “[The tool] must be used only to prevent damage to any of the Wikimedia projects. […] There must be a valid reason to check a user.” (m:CheckUser_policy)

4th evidence:

NinjaRobotPirate revoked the CU block himself, within minutes of inquiring the reason (talk page):

  • “You know what, I don’t even care any more. It’s no longer a CU block, and I don’t want to have anything to do with you any more. Please, no one contact me about this editor; I’ve washed my hands of it. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 16:21, 29 June 2019 (UTC)”

5th evidence:

(talk page)

  • ”@NinjaRobotPirate: As required by WP:ALTACCN I was “up front” declaring to ArbCom for “privacy reasons”. That is sufficient, such links should be treated privately, respecting the fact that I disclosed it only to the ArbCom.”
  • “Since you’re so enamored of Arbcom, you can appeal to them. This is now a CU block. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 15:32, 29 June 2019 (UTC)”

Declaration to ArbCom:

I have made a note of these accounts on our internal list. Please note, you have already publicly linked on your user page –redacted– to your main account, Aron Manning. In looking NinjaRobotPirate’s question to you which was in response to your unblock request, NinjaRobotPirate is a checkuser and has access to view all accounts you have logged into, whether you choose to publicly declare them or not.

Requested resolution:

The edits that contain private information linking these accounts:

  • 1 category
  • 1 edit on each user page
  • the block log of the alt accounts

Please remove these edits and log entries from the public archives as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.

Yours sincerely,
Aron Manning
